A Connecticut woman was arrested Friday for allegedly leaving her 6-year-old son in about 140-degree temperatures in her car for more than an hour while she went to get her nails done.
Rosheenamarie Francis, 28, said that she forgot she left her son in the car in front on a Hartford nail salon. After a witness, My Cao, called police, officers arrived at the salon and found the boy in the backseat of the car with the windows up in bad condition, though he was still conscious, according to Fox6news.com.
Francis was charged with risking injury to a minor,
“All the windows (were) up. (The child) was rocking back and forth in the backseat,” Cao, said.”He was sweating, drooling, crying, couldn’t really breathe.”
Police brought the boy to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.
Cao, an employee at the nail salon, said that she gave Francis a chance to help her child before she called police.
“I said to everyone (at the salon), ‘Is that your kid in the car? Before I call police, because I don’t want anyone to get in trouble,'” Cao said. “And (Francis) was still bickering about her nails.”
Adrienne Belyeu, who was a customer at the salon, said that Cao asked multiple times who had left their child in the car outside, but Francis never responded.
The Department of Children and Families has been notified about the incident.
