The mayor of Bell Gardens, Calif., Daniel Crespo, was reportedly shot in his home on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Times reports that LA County Sheriff’s Department officials have confirmed the incident occurred at Crespo’s residence in the 9600 block of Gage Avenue.
CBS Los Angeles reported that Crespo “sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound” and was said to be in “good condition,” however that account was disputed.
An investigation into what exactly transpired is ongoing.

Update - 5:30 p.m.
According to ABC 30, "Crespo was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in what appears to be a domestic dispute." His wife has been taken into custody.

Update - 5:39 p.m.
Nicole Nishida, a Sheriff's Department spokeswoman, told the Los Angeles Times the following:
"An altercation began with Crespo and his wife, during wich his son intervened, Nishida said. While father and son were fighting, Crespo's wife got a gun and shot Crespo."
Crespo was alive when he was transported to a hospital, Bell Gardens Fire Department officials confirmed.
