A New Jersey baby was hospitalized in critical condition after her mother rolled on top of her while high on heroin.
Lisa Scalia, 31, was arrested after authorities found 34 bags of heroin and 10 oxycodone pills while responding to a call about an unresponsive infant on Jan. 3.
Scalia reportedly rolled over onto her baby, Olaia Marie Mejia, while high on heroin — causing the child to lose consciousness.
The child was able to be revived at the scene, but was last reported in critical condition and is not expected to survive.
“First off I want to thank everyone for all the love [and] support,” the baby’s father, Marco Mejia, wrote on Facebook. “I now have to give [you] the bad news that these will be my daughters last days."
Scalia was placed behind bars on a $100,000 cash bond, and hit with child endangerment and drug charges.
It is unknown whether the mother will face any additional charges, reported NJ.com.
