A 15-year-old boy from Williams Township, Pennsylvania, is accused of murdering his older brother because of a girl.
Dakota Thornton allegedly shot his 18-year-old brother Dominick with a shotgun on March 30, WPMT reports. Dominick was pronounced dead at the scene.
The alleged murder reportedly occurred because of Dominick’s girlfriend.
"The brothers were having a dispute over a young lady,” Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said. "Both of them apparently were romantically interested in this young girl and that's what led ultimately to the killing."
When police arrived at the Thornton home, they found Dakota in a neighboring apartment, WHTM reports.
He reportedly put his hands up and said, “I shot my brother.”
During Dakota’s police interview, he said he loaded a .410 shotgun about two minutes before the shooting. He confessed to killing his brother because of the feelings he had for his girlfriend.
Dakota was charged as an adult with first-degree murder and possession of an instrument of crime. He was denied bail.
