Former "Bachelor" star Chris Soules has been arrested following a fatal traffic accident in Iowa.
The 35-year-old reality star reportedly slammed his Chevy pickup truck into the back of a John Deere tractor at around 8:20 p.m. on April 24, according to TMZ. Both vehicles were traveling southbound and both wound up in a roadside ditch.
The tractor's driver was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher, a farmer from Aurora.
"A death occurred," a Buchanan County Jail official told Fox News.
Soules was arrested by the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office after reportedly fleeing the scene. It took police several hours to obtain a search warrant to get Soules out of the house he had gone to after the crash.
He has been charged with "leaving the scene of a fatal car accident that left one individual dead" and remains in police custody, the Daily Mail reports.
He was arraigned on April 25 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 2. He is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
"The judge put a $10,000 cash bond on him," an official told Fox News. "Bond has not been posted yet."
While Soules has not been charged with driving under the influence, police documents reportedly indicate that alcoholic beverage containers were found at the scene of the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Authorities are trying to determine where Soules was and what he was doing in the hours leading up to the crash.
The county attorney said Soules has not been cooperating with law enforcement, according to KWWL.
Court records show the Iowa native was convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in 2006.
Four days before the fatal crash, Soules uploaded an image of himself in New York City to Instagram. Posing atop the Empire State Building, he wrote that he was "on top of the world," according to the Daily Mail.
Several days before that, he was in Nashville attending the 16th Annual Waiting for Wishes Celebrity Dinner Hosted by Kevin Carter & Jay DeMarcus.
Soules was born in Arlington, Iowa, and first rose to fame in 2014 after placing third in the 10th season of ABC's "The Bachelorette." The following year he appeared on the 19th season of "The Bachelor." He was briefly engaged to finalist Whitney Bischoff before the couple split in May 2015.
Soules later competed on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."
