Aretha Franklin has suggested that Prince's death may have been a result of the Zika virus (video below).
Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota on April 21. He was 57 years old.
Aretha Franklin spoke to MSNBC about his death and paid tribute to her fellow musician.
"It's such a blow," Franklin told MSNBC's Brian Williams. "It's really surreal. It's just kind of unbelievable. ... He was definitely an original and a one-of-a-kind."
During the interview, the legendary soul singer also revealed her theory about how Prince may have died.
"They're saying flu-like symptoms," she said. "I'm wondering if it has anything to do with this Zika virus."
The Zika virus is transmitted through mosquitoes and was first detected in Brazil in 2015; it then spread throughout South and Central America, plus parts of the Untied States, the Daily Mail notes.
Before Prince's death, his plane made an emergency landing on April 15 after a show in Atlanta. He was rushed to the hospital at that time, but he was released less than 24 hours later. His representatives said in a statement that he had been battling flu-like symptoms.
