PETA to Launch Porn Site?

| by Mark Berman Opposing Views

PETA is known for its risque ads featuring celebrity women in various stages of undress, but everything is pretty much PG-13. Now PETA is planning a very adult porn site.

According to a report from Reuters, PETA has requested a domain name with the new .xxx suffix -- PETA.xxx. But unlike other companies who are requesting the domain just to protect their brands, PETA plans to put content on its new site.

Spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt said it will use the address as a pornography site that draws attention to the plight of animals.

No one knows what that means exactly, but perhaps PETA provided a clue when it tried to buy sex.com when it was for sale last year. It wrote to the sellers:

“Visitors to the newly revamped Sex.com site could watch our sexy Super Bowl ads like "Veggie Love"(about how a vegan diet can enhance your time between the sheets) or watch Alicia Silverstone's naked testimonial — living proof that a vegan diet does a body good. They could gaze on sultry ads featuring gorgeous vegetarians, like Pamela Anderson and Owain Yeoman, or join the action and participate in one of our Sexiest Vegetarian contests. They could also read about the many vegan foods that are natural aphrodisiacs.”

The site could be up and running by the end of the year.
