A former MTV reality star is facing serious charges for leaving her six-month-old dog alone to starve while she moved.
Madeleine Cornish, 22, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after it was discovered that her dog Benson had been left alone in an abandoned house for three weeks without food or water. Cornish reportedly went back to the house and realized that her dog has extremely malnourished, but instead of trying to get him better, the former reality star, who appeared on MTV’s Baby High in 2010, decided to dump him on the street.
Soon after, Benson was found wandering the streets weighing only about 30 pounds. The six-month-old pup was taken in by the Arrow Fund last month, and although they didn’t expect him to survive more than a night, he is miraculously doing much better today.
“He is only five to six months old so we don't know if there's going to be a long-lasting issue with this,” said the Arrow Fund’s Leslie Spetz of the dog, who has since been renamed Hank. “Its bad when it happens to any animal, but for a puppy like that and especially a large breed dog, it can have repercussions long-term.”
Cornish, who appeared on the MTV reality show back in 2010 with other teenage moms who were enrolled in a high school parenting program, has officially been charged with animal cruelty and tampering with evidence.
