| by Sean Kelly

Eight people were arrested and charged with felony dog fighting after police discovered four dogs at a home in Chicago suffering from wounds consistent with fighting.

Officers were responding to a complaint on Sunday night when they discovered the four wounded pit bulls in the West Englewood house, as well as a dog-fighting ring. One dog was lying on its side in “severe distress,” according to the Chicago Tribune. A trail of fresh blood was also found in the home.

22-year-old Jawaan Chick was arrested and charged with felony dog fighting by someone who owns or breeds animals. Chick and 20-year-old Shaquille Middleton were held without bail. Middleton was charged with attending a dog fight.
