A touching moment between a young boy and a Jackson, Mississippi, police officer went viral.
Ashley Laine Cook posted a photo of her son, Ethan, sitting next to Jackson police officer Melvin Bonds to Facebook and explained the incident in an accompanying post.
"Ethan LOVES policemen!!" she wrote in the Feb. 5 Facebook post. "Everywhere we go he seems to find one, talk to them, and give them a hug.
"But, this time he found a special one. Officer Bonds invited Ethan to come eat with him at his table and even asked him to pray before they ate. He then spent 20 minutes talking to my son about how important it is for him to be good at school, make good grades, and how to stay out of trouble."
Cook wrote that she was inspired to share the photo in order to shed light on police officers trying to make a difference in the world, in light of the negative attention surrounding officers in recent years.
"Thank you Officer Bonds for being such a positive role model for my son and many others in the community!!" she added.
Cook's Facebook post quickly went viral, garnering over 47,000 likes and 12,000 shares in four days.
