A video featuring a fish being trained to fetch a toy like a dog has been making the rounds on the Internet.
In the clip (below), posted to YouTube by sillyrabbit1983, an intelligent Midas Cichlid fish is seen interacting with a man before fetching a toy with its mouth.
According to the Huffington Post, even with the myth that fish only have short-term memory, experts at R2Fish school say all of these animals can easily be trained — repetition and treats are the key.
The original video has gone viral since it was first published on June 21, racking up more than 800,000 views as of this writing.
A one-minute extended version was also released by sillyrabbit1983, showing what appears to be a lab that specializes in brain transfers, taking the mind of a dog and transferring it to a big-brained fish, notes Rsvlts.com.
However, according to YouTube users, it turns out the extended version is a fake viral video to promote an upcoming movie called “Self/less.”
It is still pretty cool to watch, though. Check out both versions of the video below:
