A recent viral video captures the moment a chess player realizes he’s been hustled by International Grandmaster Maurice Ashley.
The video was shot in Washington Square Park in New York City. Ashley, the first African-American International Grandmaster who will be inducted into the U.S. Chess Hall of Fame in April, sits across from a trash talking chess player.
“You don’t even look at the board!” the chess player says.
The chess player is exceptionally confident in his own skills until Ashley takes over the board. In the background, observers hiss and comment on the game.
By the end of the video, the chess player says, “Cut!” repeatedly in the hopes that the video will end, reports Time. Ashley then wins the game and introduces himself to the chess player. The player seemingly can’t believe his eyes.
“I was schooled by the best hustlers back in the day!” Ashley wrote in the video’s description. “This was actually in Washington Square Park where the late great Vinnie Livermore used to beat my a** at the same table!” New York Daily News reported.
As of Feb. 17, the video has been viewed 146,000 times.
