A heartwarming photograph of two children taking a nap together at Presbyterian Day School in Clarksdale, Mississippi, has gone viral on social media.
The photo depicts two young girls, one African-American and one white, holding hands while sleeping on mats laid out on the floor, according to the Times-Picayune. The picture, which was posted to the school's Facebook page on March 22, was accompanied by this Bible verse:
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7.
The post has received over 2,900 likes and 1,500 shares in two days.
Commenters responding to the photo said they found the picture touching.
"This picture warmed my heart," one poster wrote. "Thank God for the parents [who] have taught them to LOVE each other."
"Children have pure hearts unblemished by taught hatred," wrote another. "They are best friends and that's all that matters."
According to the institution's website, Presbyterian Day School was founded in 1970 and has been open to students for 40 years. It is affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksdale.
