Spine-chilling photos, taken in the “world’s most haunted town,” of what appears to be a ghostly apparition in a red dress and a gray figure sitting mournfully near a gravestone have gone viral.
Toowoomba, Australia, has had its fair share of ghostly sightings over the past five years, according to the Daily Mirror.
Ghost hunters in the Queensland town have discovered several spooky photos, including a ghost hovering near a grave and “strange, supernatural blue mist.”
According to the Daily Mail, a group called Toowoomba Ghost Chasers, created by Kylie Samuels and Katie Harvey, travelled around Toowoomba after researching a number of reported sightings with photos, videos, audio recordings and posted them on their Facebook page.
Paranormal investigator Aaron Mulligan believes the “lady in the red dress” to be Elizabeth Perkins, a Toowoomba resident who died after being hit by a train in 1944.
“We went there are ran through the names of some of the people; when it got to her, the K2 meter lit up and then I asked if it was Elizabeth Perkins,” Mulligan said. “Then there were footsteps and she definitely walked past.”
Amelia Saw, a reporter from Woman’s Day magazine, paid a visit to the purportedly haunted town.
"I thought it might be a struggle to find people who would speak to me about haunted stuff but they all just came out of the woodwork from all walks of life,” she said. “(My favourite is) the story of Kylie Samuels who lives in this house that used to be owned by an undertaker. Every time she puts a crucifix on the wall it just flicks off, and it's happened time and time again, there's been no wind or any other explanation for it.”
