Singer Kanye West threw a tantrum behind the scenes of a Saturday Night Live taping and threatened to walk off the show during its live broadcast, according to Page Six.
SNL guru Lorne Michaels had to reason with Kanye to keep him from bolting from the show. Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian, reportedly had to calm him down, as well.
"Kanye had an exact look planned for his set…The producers were apologetic to him," an insider for E! Online said. "There was a miscommunication, things smoothed over and he performed as planned."
Kanye said he wasn’t happy with the SNL set for his musical appearance, sources reported. The set included a video screen and not much else.
One source noted that there were a few “really tense” moments.
“He freaked out about how the set was arranged. He was saying ‘he’s the greatest artist,’” one source said. “He’s having regular meltdowns. Everyone’s walking on eggshells around him. He’s under a lot of stress between the new album and the fashion line.”
Michaels was “eerily calm” throughout the entire event, one source noted. Staffers, however, prepared for the worst.
News of Kanye’s freak out happened just after the singer tweeted about his massive amounts of debt and call for help to Mark Zuckerberg.
