The basketball coach of Neshaminy High School appeared to head-butt a referee during a game against Pennsbury High School in Pennsylvania on Jan. 5 (video below). Now, the school has taken disciplinary action against the coach.
Neshaminy head coach Jerry Devine appeared to strike the ref hard enough to knock him to the floor, according to the City of Basketball Love.
Sources told the website that the incident occurred after a Neshaminy player was called for a foul while going in for a layup with 30 seconds left. If that basket had counted, it would have been a 3-point game, which may explain why Devine was angry.
Prior to the alleged head-butting incident, Devine was called for a technical foul, reports Sporting News.
Following the incident, Devine was reportedly removed from the gym. Neshaminy High School announced on Jan. 6 that he has also been put on administrative leave while a review of the incident is conducted.
