A father in Illinois was arrested after he was caught on video trying to run over a group of teens with his SUV (video below).
Roy Williams, a 56-year-old father from Rockford, Illinois, took matters into his own hands when he discovered that his 13-year-old daughter was injured in a fight between students at an elementary school, according to Inquisitr. He first threatened two girls with his cane, then got into his car and began driving towards a group of students.
“It was very helpful to identify who the suspect was, but it doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story, so we have to take a look at it and then talk to the people who were there,” Rockford Police Assistant Deputy Chief Doug Pann said.
“I just knew we had to get out of the way before he hit one of us,” Nathan Velez, the 15-year-old student who captured the incident on camera, told reporters in a statement. “When I first saw him pull out the bat I knew it was going to go somewhere, I knew he was trying to injure somebody.”
Williams was arrested after police arrived to the scene. He is currently in jail, facing 12 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, aggravated assault of public property, reckless driving and reckless conduct.
