Blake Griffin and Landry Fields once again take home NBA Rookie of the Month honors for their respective conferences. Both players also won the award during the month of November.
Griffin continued his climb to the top, averaging 23 points and 13.5 rebounds a game during the month of December. In fact, Griffin improved in every statistical category except for field goal percentage (only a 1.2% drop off). He currently ranks first among rookies in points (21.7) and rebounds (12.5) and it’s safe to say he may never be caught in either of those categories.
Fields, on the other hand, wins the award for the second straight month despite averaging less points per game (8.8 compared to 10.8). However, the Knicks played three less games during December which may be part of the reason. Fields currently ranks third among rookies in rebounds (7.4) and first among NBA guards.
