Starkeema Greenidge claims that she contracted oral herpes when she sampled Rihanna's RiRi Woo lipstick, which was offered at a Rihanna concert by Mac Cosmetics, one of the singer's sponsors.
Greenidge has now filed a lawsuit against Mac Cosmetics for "mental anguish and emotional distress" caused by oral herpes.
"This is going to happen over and over again if nothing is done," Greenidge told the New York Daily News. "I wasn't able to work for two weeks. It cost me a lot of money."
Greenidge says she did not have herpes before going to the May 7 Rihanna concert at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
While at the concert venue, Greenidge stopped at the Mac Cosmetics pop-up shop, where an employee allegedly applied herpes to Greenidge's lips via a stick of previously-used RiRi Woo lipstick.
"[She] didn't use a fresh or new lipstick tube, but rather one that had been used for other patrons," Greenidge's lawsuit said.
Greenidge was allegedly told by the Mac Cosmetics employee to "press her lips together and spread the lipstick around."
Two days later, a doctor diagnosed Greenidge as having oral herpes.
"[Mac Cosmetics] should have known" they were "exposing patrons to possible spread of disease," her lawyers claim.
