Vice President Mike Pence reportedly will not dine alone with any woman except his wife, Karen.
This revelation re-surfaced in a March 28 article about Karen in The Washington Post, which noted that the vice president told The Hill in 2002 about his solo eating habit. He also reportedly said he does not attend events that have alcohol without his wife.
This refusal to be alone with other women is known among evangelical Christian circles as the "Billy Graham Rule," according to The Atlantic.
The famous evangelist reportedly refused to eat, meet or travel with women alone. It's believed he had this rule to avoid any appearances of extramarital activity and to avoid the actual activity itself.
Many Christian pastors and evangelical men follow this type of rule in their daily lives, The Atlantic notes.
While the Pences were married in a Catholic church in 1985, they both later became evangelical Christians, notes The Washington Post.
Kellyanne Conway, an advisor to President Donald Trump, told the newspaper that Karen "was a major part" of the presidential campaign.
"She just never flinched," Conway added. "Karen Pence was one of the biggest pro-Trump people and Trump defenders there was … She has a great sense of people and saw at events and rallies the enthusiasm and support for Mr. Trump."
Conservative writer Matt Walsh tweeted his support of the vice president on March 29, according to The Huffington Post: "Seriously what's the appropriate reason for a married person to go out for a meal alone with a member of the other sex (outside of family)?"
The Huffington Post notes some of the Twitter responses to Walsh and the vice president:
You're both hungry?
Is coffee adultery? Is soup?
[MattWalshBlog] do you tend to find your encounters with women fraught with irresistible sexual fantasies, or only during meals?

[MattWalshBlog] I'll probably get heat for this, but I don't even watch The Bachelorette with my wife and her friends. What if I temp them?
[MattWalshBlog] Group of women (some single) watching a bunch of fit guys fight for attention. Then I walk in? Sometimes after a workout? NO.
[MattWalshBlog] My boss took me out to lunch to discuss my career. Pence is a man in power who has to treat males different from females.
