Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has been slammed by his fellow Republicans for engineering the shutdown of the U.S. government in an effort to defund Obamacare, but several leaders of the Religious Right are praising him.
Focus on the Family's political arm Citizen Link recently claimed that Sen. Ted Cruz’s fake filibuster against the Continuing Resolution (CR) that would fund Obamacare and the U.S. government was “grandstanding on principle” (video below).
On his Monday radio broadcast of "Washington Watch," Family Research Council head Tony Perkins praised Sen. Cruz and his Tea Party allies for shutting down the U.S. government, notes RightWingWatch.org (audio below).
“I think they are acting heroic, I think they are heroes. They are along the lines of the patriots who founded this nation, they are standing up to the liberal press and to the naysayers and to the RINOs and saying, ‘No we’re not going along with it any longer, we’re going to try and use what ability we have to save this country,’” said Perkins.
American Family Association radio host Bryan Fischer recently praised Sen. Cruz and his anti-health care supporters “Teddie and the Cruzers” (video below).
"Everything you see around here is a result of Ted Cruz, Teddie and the Cruzers, carrying the load for the conservative movement, " said Fischer, who went on to bash House Speaker John Boehner.
"You cannot overestimate the role of Ted Cruz, it shows you how one man with courage can make a huge difference in what happens politically,” added Fischer.
