Members of the Christian rock band One Floor Away have kicked out their guitarist Mark Smith because he supports gay marriage.
According to Philly.com, Smith was told that he would have to change his position on gay marriage or leave.
“It sort of blew my mind,” Smith said. “It was like a smack to the side of the head.”
In response, KC Sawyer, who plays keyboards in One Floor Away, said: “What we do with our band we prefer to keep quiet.”
Now Smith is demanding the band remove his contribution from a single that was recently released on iTunes because he won't support them.
According to their website, One Floor Away was formed in 2009 and describes themselves as “a high-energy pop rock band."
“As a socially conscious band, One Floor Away is committed to promoting positive and constructive moral values,” says the website.
Fortunately for Smith his day job is working as a Bradford County, Pennsylvania Commissioner.
Smith is currently running for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor in the May 2014 primary.
