"Dr. Chaps" Gordon Klingenschmitt, a former Navy Chaplain, won a GOP Colorado state primary yesterday and is now the Republican nominee for House District 15 in the Colorado House of Representatives.
According to RightWingWatch.org, Klingenschmitt once claimed he performed an exorcism on a lesbian soldier, said Obamacare causes cancer, stated the Bible tells people to own guns, blamed the head of the FCC for allowing demons to "molest and visually rape your children" and claimed that gay soldiers in the U.S. military will be "taking breaks on the combat field to change diapers all because their treacherous sin causes them to lose control of their bowels" (video below).
Wonkette.com notes that Klingenschmitt believes evil spirits from gay people are turning animals gay and once told Christian photographers to print up business cards stating that gays should be stoned to death.
Klingenschmitt won yesterday's primary race 52 to 47 percent over Dave Williams, notes the Denver Post.
If he defeats his Democrat opponent in November, Klingenschmitt would represent the conservative Colorado Springs area where the powerful Christian ministry/lobbying organization Focus on the Family is located.
Klingenschmitt announced his victory on his Facebook page and asked for money:
Isn't this great news? Honestly the race was closer than I expected, and I congratulate my Republican opponent for running a very competitive race. Now we must beat the Democrat.
However, we have some debt from the primary race. I just got a bill for $4,138 in printing costs and we have a few more bills outstanding, due this week.
Can you please contribute to help us repay our primary debt for this election victory? Then we can start from a clean slate to run against a common-core anti-gun Democrat in Nov.
