As Election Day nears, several Christian leaders are calling on the faithful to vote for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump so he can stack the U.S. Supreme Court with conservative judges (video below).
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins praised Trump's performance during the third debate, and Trump's list of conservative justices during a conference call with Ohio pastors on Nov. 4, notes Right Wing Watch:
That discussion regarding late-term abortion was probably, if Donald Trump wins this election, may go down in history as one of the most important moments in presidential politics.
He, for the first time, we heard a presidential candidate vividly describe what partial-birth abortion, late-term abortion was, and he clearly articulated that he was going to appoint pro-life justices, No Republican, none, none, has ever said that before.
He’s put out a list of solid conservatives and he even said that he’d like to see Roe v. Wade overturned. Again, we’ve never had a Republican that has been that clear on the issues.
The Huffington Post noted on Oct. 21 after the third debate: "Trump described a procedure that rips the baby out of the womb in the ninth month of pregnancy -- a shocking characterization that medical experts have denounced and refuted as a gross distortion of the procedure."
Trump has repeatedly and falsely claimed that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton supports having a baby ripped out of the womb on the day prior to birth and on the day of birth.
During an internet broadcast on Nov. 3, evangelist Franklin Graham said, "This election is about the Supreme Court. This is the most important election of our lifetime. we have a chance to get pro-life judges, which could change this country."
Right Wing Watch reports that Perkins' FRC released a video ad and an email blast on Nov. 1 that warned Christians that the "justices hold the keys to everything from health care, gun rights, abortion, religious liberty, and an endless list of issues critical to the future of our country."
Catholic Vote, a conservative organization, sent out an email blast on Nov. 2 that pushed for the Supreme Court and mocked the Catholic faith of Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, notes Right Wing Watch:
LET’S NOT FORGET: In 6 days the future of the Supreme Court, hundreds of federal judges, Obamacare, religious freedom, taxpayer dollars for Planned Parenthood, the fate of the Little Sisters of the Poor, and so much more will be decided.
Looking at the fight for the Senate, the latest election projections suggest that a 50-50 Senate could be in our future.
And the Constitution gives the Vice President the power to cast a tie-breaking vote.
Can you imagine so-called "Catholic" Tim Kaine handing the Senate to the Democrats, forcing a rules change, and ushering in a new Supreme Court?
