The Secret Service reportedly placed the White House on lockdown March 28 due to a suspicious package nearby.
"[Secret Service] investigating suspicious package near [White House] grounds. Road closures in effect," the agency wrote on its Twitter account.
During the lockdown, roads around the White House were closed and the media was blocked from entering the area, The Hill reported.
KGTV reported that this is the second instance this month in which the White House has responded to a potential threat. On March 10, an intruder avoided Secret Service on the White House grounds for 15 minutes before finally being caught and detained.
