There have no doubt been many awkward moments between legislators in the history of Capitol Hill, but this one yesterday of opposing lawmakers holding hands and singing “We Shall Overcome” might be the best one yet.
Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner, Harry Reid and co. look unbelievably uncomfortable as they’re forced to link up and sing the famous civil rights song together. Boehner refuses to open his mouth, Reid looks like he’d rather be jumping off a bridge, meanwhile Nancy Pelosi looks like she’s in the middle of an opera audition.
Ron Fournier of the National Journal summed the hilarious clip up best.
“I watched killers being executed by the State of Arkansas,” he said. “They looked happier and more at ease than this.”
