After an ad campaign run by Michael Bloomberg's group targeting an Arkansas congressman ruffled some feathers, the victim is firing back. Sen. Mark Pryor has released a new ad where he defends his stance and also takes on Washington policymakers.
"The mayor of New York City is running ads against me because I oppose President Obama's gun control legislation," Pryor says in the ad. "Nothing in the Obama plan would have prevented tragedies like Newtown, Aurora, Tucson or even Jonesboro. I'm committed to finding real solutions to violence while protecting our Second Amendment rights."
"I'm Mark Pryor, and I approve this ad because no one from New York or Washington tells me what to do. I listen to Arkansas."
Bloomberg's originals ads alluded to the shooting death of former Arkansas Democratic Party Chair Bill Gwatney, The Huffington Post reported. Pryor called the reference to Gwatney’s death "disgusting" and said it politicized the death of a friend.
Pryor’s ad, called "Real Solutions," will begin airing Friday. It is the first ad he is running for his 2014 reelection campaign.
