Yesterday, Iowa Congressman Steve King (R) used a town hall meeting to compare immigrants to dogs, saying that the U.S. should be selective when admitting them by choosing the “pick of the litter.”
Video (below) of the comments, were uploaded by the progressive consulting firm American Bridge and first published on Salon.com.
King likened immigrants to bird dogs and explained to the silent audience that the U.S. should admit “friskier” immigrants, “not the one that’s over there sleeping on the corner.”
This isn't the first time that Rep. King has made animal comparisons to immigrants.
In 2006, on the House floor, he put together a plastic demo of his dream border wall, complete with electrified wire because “we do that with livestock all the time.”
