A 15-year-old boy was arrested yesterday for attempting to rob younger boys for single dollar bills.
The assaults happened at various places in the Carroll Gardens section of New York City.
From Monday to Wednesday the 15-year-old allegedly attempted to rob five different boys between the ages of 12 and 14 in separate incidents.
The alleged spree began on Monday when he approached a 12-year-old boy at about 7:20 in the morning. When the victim didn’t have a one, dollar bill he allegedly whipped out a razor blade and tried to cut his pants, nicking him.
The “Dollar Bandit” was largely unsuccessful as three of the alleged assaults ended with him accosting victims with no money. The other two resulted in $12 from one boy and wallet from another. Each incident reportedly began with him asking for a single dollar.
The teen was charged with robbery after he was identified by the victims in a lineup.
In January, a different 15 year-old boy successfully robbed a bank in the Bronx. But when he opened the bag, the dye pack blew up in his face.
