Chili’s waitress Ashley Warden was fired after she posted a photo of three Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputies on her Facebook page accompanying the comment: “Stupid cops better hope I’m not their server FDP.”
After the post went viral, Chili’s was bombarded with phone calls requesting that Warden be fired.
Chili’s obliged and released a statement saying that team members should be respectful of guests and should use proper judgment when discussing the workplace. According to a CareerBuilder survey released last year, 1 in 3 employers make hire or fire decisions based on a person’s Facebook page or other social media networks.
"Involvement in the local community is something Chili's prides ourselves on," the company's statement said, "and we are proud to partner with local law enforcement officials in our more than 1,200 restaurants throughout the U.S."
For what it's worth, Warden may have had reason to release her anger on Facebook. She and her child made national news last year when her toddler pulled down his pants and an officer charged her with a $2,500 public urination ticket.
“I guess she got a bad taste in her mouth for law enforcement in general," Piedmont Police Chief Alex Oblein said.
