We love the information we get from Yahoo! Sports basketball insider Adrian Wojnarowski, but we really do hate typing his name. It is not easy to remember. But anyway, sources tell him that the New Jersey Nets are in talks to acquire Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets.
It’s expected to be a multiple-team deal, but one executive told him, “We’ve got a long way to go.”
The deal is expected to include No. 3-overall pick Derrick Favors and multiple first-round picks. The two teams are rumored to be engaging multiple other teams to help complete the deal. They might need a third-graders math chart to keep track of all these multiples.
Wojnarowski just tweeted a few moments ago regarding two other teams that are involved.
“Sources confirm ‘Melo four-team scenario includes Nets, Nuggets, Bobcats and Jazz,” he tweets.
The Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks were expected to be Anthony’s preferred destinations, but sources tell Yahoo that he’s growing more comfortable with the idea of signing a deal with the Nets.
The Nuggets reportedly won’t do a deal with the Bulls without Joakim Noah involved, but that doesn’t look like it would happen on the Bulls end.
Stay tuned on this one. We’re told not to expect anything in the next 24 hours, but clearly the wheels are turning here.
