In either a politically motivated charade or a deliberate attempt to further waste tax payer dollars in an already stagnant and unproductive Congress, the GOP is intending to overrule Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and five other committee members’ requests not to set up yet another committee to investigate Benghazi.
Enough is enough. Already, there have been nearly a dozen formal hearings on Benghazi, five committees (not even including the internal White House Accountability Review Board) that have sifted through hundreds of documents and conducted nearly as many interviews, as well as a couple White House “whistleblowers” that have attempted to surface and piece together the non-existent Great Government Conspiracy of 2012-2013. So far, no luck. Call it a hunch, but there’s probably nothing left to see here.
House Speaker Boehner and the chairmen of the Intelligence, Judiciary, Oversight and Government Reform, Armed Services, and Foreign Affairs committees do not support the GOP legislation that would create yet another committee to overview Benghazi. The resolution is sponsored by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.), and has garnered an unfortunate amount of support with over 140 GOP co-sponsors and 80 Republican supporters. As of now, no Democrats are in favor of the resolution.
