Dick Cheney added his conservative voice to the Fox News interview pool Monday night, criticizing (as if he’d do anything but) the Obama administration’s handling of Benghazi.
Cheney told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that the administration flat-out lied about Benghazi and the events leading up to it, and is pursuing an elaborate cover up in order to erase their lies and mistakes.
“They lied. They claimed it was because of a demonstration video, that they wouldn’t have to admit it was really all about their incompetence,” Cheney said. “They ignored repeated warnings about the threat. They ignored messages from their own people on the ground that they needed more security.”
Cheney’s comments come after nearly a dozen Congressional hearings on Benghazi, which have yet to find any blatant wrongdoings on behalf of the administration that itself had not reported.
One of his more ridiculous comments, however, was when Cheney considered Benghazi one of the worst terror-related incidents of his career.
“I think it’s one of the worst incidents, frankly, that I can recall in my career,” said Cheney, the man who was serving as Vice President of the United States during September 11, 2001.
