2. “The American Psycho” gets his next fight: According MMA Live host Jon Anik via Twitter, it looks like Stephan Bonnar’s next bout will be come this December against Igor Pokrajac at The Ultimate Fighter season 12 finale event at the Pearl at the Palms Casino and Resort. Bonnar has been busy as of late. He’s fighting regularly now, and filling in as WEC commentator and MMA Live co-host when Kenny Florian is away. This is a good, and winnable, fight for Bonnar to build on his big win over Krzysztof Soszynski at UFC 116.
3. Shinya Aoki vs Marcus Aurelio: DREAM officials announced that their Lightweight Champion, Shinya Aoki, will return later this month at DREAM 16, where he will be taking on PRIDE and UFC veteran Marcus Aurelio. This is a very attractive fight, and a huge test for Aoki. Aurelio has never been finished and will be the bigger and stronger of the two when they meet on September 25. It will be interesting to see how Aoki deals with this, because when he fought Gilbert Melendez, a larger fighter, he was bested.
4. Undefeated prospect gets his next fight: According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, a huge fight between light heavyweight prospects is headed to Detroit for UFC 123. Tim Boetsch is scheduled to take on undefeated fighter, Phil Davis, on the night’s card. I think Davis is going to take this. He’s improved every fight, and if all else fails, he’ll fall back on his wrestling and control the fight. Still, Boetsch could catch him and knock him out.
5. Mir talks Cro Cop: On a video on UFC.com, Mir says he has the advantage in his fight with Cro Cop. “He has a lot of speed and quickness… Mirko is very good on his feet. I’m not bad on my feet either. Add in the wrestling that I have been working on, the jiu jitsu aspect, he has many more things to worry about. Once that cage door shuts every advantage is mine… I don’t see anywhere I don’t feel comfortable with Cro Cop. I can beat him in more ways than he can beat me.” Well Frank should win. Will he? I guess that depends if he decides to stand with Cro Cop or not. Standing, I’d say it’s 55/45 Cro Cop. If Frank takes it to the ground it’s probably over for the Croatian.
