What a wonderful way to spend a spring weekend in New England!
Sustainable Practice, Sustainable Life
In today’s world, it is increasingly obvious that sustainability is no longer just an option, but a necessity. Because yoga practice is a microcosm of life, this workshop will explore how a sustainable approach to asana can help you create and sustain balance in your life.
Maya Yoga is designed to serve each individual student. Nicki Doane will inspire you to recognize the profound connection between self and spirit. Her style will encourage you to discover your true self and let practice be your teacher, showing what is right for you at any given moment.
You will explore backbends to extend the spine and consciousness, and take the time to look within. Maya Yoga Vinyasa combines the breath and flow of vinyasa style yoga with alignment principles that support safety, postural integrity, and personal awareness. Come and explore Nicki’s unique approach to vinyasa yoga. It will strengthen all aspects of your being through dynamic structural alignment, conscious breathing, and practical yogic philosophy.
Nicki Doane had a wanderlust that led her to India in 1991 to study yoga. When she met Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, she immediately realized she had found her teacher. Nicki’s teaching is rooted in Ashtanga but goes beyond the traditional. Her vinyasa classes combine asana, pranayama, philosophy, and poetry. Nicki’s emphasis is on awareness: creating integrity within each pose that can be carried beyond the mat into daily life. She teaches across the globe, has graced the cover of Yoga Journal, is featured in two Ashtanga Yoga DVDs from Gaiam, and recently produced her own series of Maya Yoga DVD’s in collaboration with her husband Eddie Modestini.
