Everyone keeps talking about this switch that the Los Angeles Lakers will theoretically find and turn on. But, after the fell to the Dallas Mavericks again last night, we aren’t so sure that it even exists. The Lakers are down 3-0 in the series and it’s not looking good.
Kobe scored 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting, which isn’t completely awful. But his shot selection is poor and he isn’t exhibiting the best leadership skills. He does have a bum knee, so maybe that’s the problem. Maybe that’s why he isn’t gashing this defense with drives to the rack. Three of his 65 shots are at or near the rim. That makes sense?
The bigger problem that creates is from the free throw line. He took one free throw last night (However….he made it!). You can rack up a ton of points if you just keep getting to the line, and that’s what he’s supposed to be doing.
Regardless, this Lakers team is not playing well enough, and they know it.
“Shocked a little bit,” said Lamar Odom.
The Lakers blew a seven-point lead last night with just over five minutes to play. This after they blew a 16-point lead in Game 1. It’s not looking good for a three-peat right now, but at least one guy isn’t ready to bow out.
“I don’t know, I might be sick in the head . . . crazy . . . but I still think we can win this series,” Bryant said. “I might be nuts.”
