Like the setup to a bad joke, Justin Bieber walked into a Hooters restaurant Saturday and briefly stopped time. OK. Not quite. The earth continued to spin.
But the floppy-haired Canadian singing sensation, who has sold millions of albums, has millions of Twitter followers and leaves millions baffled by his fame, did cause a stir when he slipped into the restaurant at West Edmonton Mall.
“We probably had a row six people deep and 10 people long at the window,” said Sonny Verma, a Hooters manager. “It was pretty cool.”
The “Biebs,” as some call him, made his appearance at about 3 p.m. accompanied by four to six security guards, although an exact number could not be pinned down.
“First his opening act was in here — Legaci,” Verma said. “They came in and sang to one of our girls.”
After Hooters waived the band’s bill, Verma said the members promised to try to bring Bieber himself back in.
“I was told about 10, 15 minutes he came in here,” Verma said. “It was really quick. He came in, took a quick picture and took off.”
Bieber and company are in Edmonton for a show today at Rexall Place. The gig is part of his Xbox 360 Presents Justin Bieber My World Tour. Tickets were still available Saturday night.
Was his bodyguard with him… I mean, that’s just like a legal guardian consent, right?
