No Spit Bucket: Julia Roberts Gains 7 Pounds Filming "Eat, Pray, Love"

| by

I am dying to read the book AND see the movie "Eat, Pray, Love!"  I know I'm a bit behind the times, but I promise I will catch up.

Julia Roberts, who plays the main character, has admitted to having gained 7 lbs while filming the movie. For those who have read the books, you know that part of the story is to eat! So Julia did, and, oh boy, did she.

While filming the food scenes and eating carb-loaded foods like pizza and pasta, back home Hollywood heads were shaking with shame. Julia admitted:

"I've always been a friend of food. I probably put on about seven pounds in Rome when we were shooting. I ate a lot of pizzas in Naples. It was just great. But it was hard on take 10 on a giant plate of pasta.

"It is a challenge and I love a good meal. Someone suggested I had a spit bucket but I can't do that because it makes me gag. It just grosses me out."

I agree with Julia, a spit bucket would skeeve me out too.

Even though Julia has always been slender in frame, she has refused to succumb to the pressures of Hollywood to become a size zero.

"That is a strange thing that happens. People get wildly famous and they get incredibly slim.

"I don't know. It never happened to me. I look the same. I guess that is my staying power. My fighting weight."

This may be sad but true. Julia has also admitted it's a lot easier to survive movie premiere parties and photo shoots if you actually eat normally.

Lucky for Julia, I guess!
