When the Washington Wizards were lucky enough the get the first pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, it was a foregone conclusion they would be selecting John Wall. We all came to love John Wall during his one year at Kentucky and knew he had the make-up to succeed at the next level. We knew Wall was good, but we didn’t know he was good enough to make televised summer league games relevant.
According to Nielsen TV Ratings, nearly 20,000 Washington, D.C. households tuned in to watch John Wall and the Washington Wizards five summer league games. That number was large enough to eclipse the Wizards 2008-09 season ratings, a year in which the Wizards managed to win only 16 games.
The Wizards will look to build on the John Wall craze during the regular season as they try and bounce back from a 26-56 record last year.
