Actor James Franco’s recent appearance on the talk show Inside the Actors Studio was such a hit, staff had to turn away “a record number of people” from his taping, reports TMZ.
The 127 Hours star taped his appearance on the show this weekend in Manhattan, and hundreds of fans and industry insiders clamored for the chance to see Franco discuss his craft.
Tickets had already sold out, yet more than 250 “industry professionals” tried to score “comp” seats, the website reports. They were all turned away – a record for the Bravo series.
Screaming fans became so loud during the actual recording that host James Lipton had to stop the interview.
“Seventeen years filming this show and I’ve never heard a sound like that before,” Lipton reportedly said.
According to TMZ.com, Franco thanked fans for their support by staying behind after the taping.
“James stayed another hour-and-a-half after the taping and talked to every single student and fan who wanted to talk….No one has done that since Paul Newman, the very first guest that ever appeared on the show,” a source said.
Franco’s appearance on the show will air on US TV next month.
