Study: Porn Stars Have Higher Self-Esteem Than Other Women

| by Michael Allen

A new study, which was recently published in the Journal of Sex Research, claims that female porn stars have a higher self-esteem than women who do not perform in the adult industry, reports the Toronto Sun.

The study titled 'Pornography Actresses: An Assessment of the Damaged Goods Hypothesis' said: “In terms of psychological characteristics, porn actresses had higher levels of self-esteem, positive feelings, social support, sexual satisfaction, and spirituality compared to the matched group."

The study was conducted by researchers from Texas Woman’s University, Shippensburg University and Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation, who compared 177 porn actresses to non-porn women based on age, race and marital status.

The study also found that porn stars tried more drugs, had their first sexual experience at a younger age and had more sexual partners than non-porn women.
