Gentry and Renee Nickell Force Daughter to Hold Embarrassing Sign Near Busy Road

| by Michael Allen

Gentry and Renee Nickell (pictured) recently forced their 13-year-old daughter to hold an embarrassing sign at a busy intersection in Crestview, Florida.

According to the Daily Mail, the sign said: "I’m a Self-entitled teenager w/no Respect for authority. I’m also super smart, yet I have 3 'D’s' because I DON’T CARE."

However, the Nickells were surprised when passing motorists took pictures and shot a video of their daughter, which found its way onto Facebook.

One motorist even called the police, who visited the scene, but were told that the girl wasn't in any danger.

"We got to the point where we just didn’t know what else to do," Renee Nickell told the Northwest Florida Daily News. "We just felt like she just kind of gave up."

Renee Nickell apparently got the idea from a Christian counselor several years ago.

The Nickells say their daughter had become increasingly disrespectful since her uncle was killed in Afghanistan in December 2011.

Gentry was present with his daughter the entire time of the punishment and added: "At the end, she gave me a hug in front of the police officer and told me she was sorry."

The Nickells claim their daughter’s behavior has improved.
