Economists from Concordia University have recently published a study indicating that increasing numbers of workers are seeking medical help for ailments related to job stress. For workers in high stress jobs, visits to healthcare professionals are up 26%.
70% of workers in the United States indicated on recent polls that their workplace is a significant source of stress, and 51% reported that their productivity is reduced by jobstress. And according to study co-author Mesbah Sharaf, estimates put the cost of stress-induced healthcare utilization at $68 billion for U.S. companies, which lowers their profits by 10%.
