A man stumbled into a hospital with a pair of scissors lodged into his skull and politely asked for help after he was attacked in a bar in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Jonas Acevedo Monroy, 32, nicknamed “The Gentleman” by hospital staff for his good manners, was attacked by a jealous rival at his local bar, according to the Daily Mirror.
“Jonas was as always full of high spirits and was being charming with everyone in the bar when one of the locals took umbrage,” Monroy’s friend Nandor Altamirano Carvajal, 30, said. “He came over and started trying to wind Jonas up, but when that didn’t work, he started getting abusive and aggressive.”
Carvajal said his well-mannered friend offered to buy the aggressor a drink, but instead the man took out a pair of scissors from his jacket and stabbed Monroy in the head, piercing his brain, according to the New York Post.
As the alleged attacker, Miguel Angel Rodriguez Armendariz, 30, fled, Carvajal drove a dazed and bloodied Monroy to a nearby hospital with the scissors sticking out of his head.
“Staff were very surprised when the two walked in and the man with the scissors in his head shook the receptionist’s hand and said he seemed to have a small problem and would the receptionist mind helping him,” a hospital spokesman said.
“At first we thought it was some sort of joke, but then he fainted and we rushed him into emergency,” he said. “He had been stabbed in the upper-left side of his skull and the scissors had penetrated his parietal brain lobe. He is lucky to be alive.”
Police have arrested the alleged assailant and he is currently in custody.
