A 23-year-old college student was shocked to discover a chemical burn under his arm from Old Spice deodorant (video below shows another customer burned by the brand's deodorant).
Rodney Colley, from Alexandria, Virginia, said he woke to find something similar to a diaper rash forming under his arm, reported LiftBump. Unclear as to what caused the rash, he decided to continue on with his day and let it heal.
Soon, however, the rash started to get worse and more painful.
“I got out of the shower on Monday morning and it felt like my armpit was on fire,” he told Independent Journal, according to LiftBump. “So I looked in the mirror and sure enough the skin around it started scabbing.”
As it turned out, the Old Spice deodorant he bought had been giving him a chemical burn. It was Colley’s first time using an Old Spice product.
Colley isn’t the only one to experience chemical burns from the popular deodorant. Several people have reported a similar reaction to Old Spice products, and others have even experienced contact dermatitis, reported LiftBump.
Despite the numerous reports of reactions, Old Spice has not released a statement in response to the controversy.
