During the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on Thursday, Robert Blasetti, who was dressed as a clown, suffered a cardiac arrest and died in front of a crowd of bystanders at Sixth Avenue and West 39th Street, reports the New York Post.
Blasetti's wife Irene, also dressed as a a clown, performed CPR before the ambulance arrived. Blasetti was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Macy’s spokesman Orlando Veras said the company was “saddened to report that a marcher in the Macy’s Parade suffered a medical emergency."
Witness Tuvia Yamnik told the New York Post: “All of a sudden he collapsed and fell on his back. People came to him right away. It didn’t look like he was breathing. People started pumping his chest."
An unidentified NYPD officer also suffered a fatal heart attack during the parade. He was also pronounced dead at the hospital.
