Ashley Bridges was ten weeks pregnant when she was told that she had bone cancer. Her doctors advised her to start chemotherapy immediately, which meant she would have to abort her unborn baby.
The Wildomar, California, mom refused the cancer treatment.
“There’s no way I could kill a healthy baby because I’m sick,” Bridges told CBS Los Angeles (video below).
When Bridges was eight months pregnant, doctors told her the cancer had spread and she had to give birth, which she did.
“That’s basically when they told me that it was terminal,” recalled Bridges.
Bridges, 24, recently gave birth to Paisley, but was told she has less than a year to live, even with chemotherapy treatments, noted My Fox 8.
“I felt like I tried so hard to keep Paisley safe and do the minimum [treatment] to keep her healthy. The thought that I’m not going to see her grow up is really hard,” stated Bridges.
Bridges, who has a 6-year-old son, has received support from friends and family who have set up an online donation page for her medical bills.
“She’s a real-life superhero, to be honest with you,” stated Bridges’ sister Jessica.
