The keyboardist, singer, and songwriter has been on a waiting list for the liver transplant. Allman, 62, received the liver transplant on Wednesday after one had been donated. Allman suffers from Hepatitis C.
“I feel pretty good, considering everything that’s happened,” Allman said in a statement. “Everybody involved here, my doctors and nurses in the hospital and all the Allman Brothers fans, they’ve just all been great. … All I can really say is ‘thanks.’”
The band has put their touring plans on hold while Allman recuperates from the transplant surgery.
