Maximo Altez, the attorney representing Peru murder suspect Joran van der Sloot, says he will petition the judge presiding over the case to strike down van der Sloot's confession.
The Dutch-born van der Sloot recently admitted to killing 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramirez in his hotel room when she found "incriminating" evidence on his laptop.
Altez says the confession should be thrown out because his client wasn't properly represented at the time of interrogation.
During the chilling confession, police say van der Sloot was so detailed and methodical in his explanation of how the crime was carried out -- that they didn't need to take him to the crime scene for more details.
He was that thorough, yet Altez wants it stricken from the record and unavailable for prosecutors. The attorney says Flores attacked van der Sloot first, after he confronted her about violating his privacy.
Flores' badly beaten body was found in van der Sloot's hotel room, and the two can be seen on CST video entering his hotel room together. He can then be seen leaving alone three hours later.
