1st BCS Rankings Released: Okla. No. 1

| by Alex Groberman

The college football world just got a bit more interesting with the release of the first BCS rankings.

While they’re great for discussion purposes, it’s important to note that the first poll holds little to no significance in the grand scheme of an entire season. Only once have the top two teams on the initial rankings met for a college football championship game later in the season.

One of the main reasons that the first set of rankings is so irellevent is because of the natural design of the BCS system. An early loss which may cause a low rank early on can be overcome more easily than a loss late in the season.

Below is the first set of the BCS rankings for the 2010-11 season.
